commission faq

  • i am currently open for tattoo design commissions, logo and brand design commissions, as well as painting and illustration commissions (both digital and traditional mediums). if you are a brick and mortar store in the east bay, i also offer chalkboard menu design as well as window art displays.

  • it depends! tattoo commission turn around will be quicker than logo or brand design, while painting and illustration work depends on the size and the medium. i always do a sketch phase as well as a color rough before starting on final pieces, so depending on how long feedback from you will take, you will end up in a different place in my work queue (so do your best to get your feedback in as soon as you can!)

    i’ll do my best to get everything done in a timely manner, but please let me know at the time of the commission if there is a hard deadline for your project (birthday, anniversary, etc.)

  • i am open to (and would absolutely love) feedback during the sketch and color rough phases, however after final deliverables i cannot offer refunds.

 

pricing

fifty percent is due upon time of commission, second half due after seeing watermarked finals before file transfer or shipping.

 

illustration and painting

illustration and painting commissions are based around medium and size. if i am working traditionally, you will be charged a materials fee as well as a price based on the size of the work. 

traditional —

the smallest i work is 3”x3”, with the base price for commissions being $80. Each inch in length or width after that will increase the price by $20 (3”x4” = $100, 4x4” = 120, 9”x8” = $240, etc.)

for larger pieces - at 1’x1’ the base price increases to $300 with every 2” increase being an additional $50.

you will only be charged for the area painted - pieces painted on paper will come with a 1/2” - 1” border. canvases are painted in full. you will also need to cover the cost of shipping your piece. this ranges significantly depending on size, shape, and destination. all commissions will be carefully packed and shipped with tracking numbers. 

digital —

for full scale digital illustrations (background, subject, foreground) i work at an $100-150/hr rate, please contact me with what you are interested in and i will give you a quote.

i will take on digital portrait commissions from time to time, they are $80 flat rate, with sketch and color phase combined (one chance for feedback and change before final deliverables - each round of additional changes are $20).

brick and mortar stores

for brick and mortar stores in the east bay , i offer chalkboard and window art services, perfect for different seasonal events or to jazz up your menu signs! please contact me about the size and scope of the project, however my hourly rate for this work is $75/hr plus a setup and sketch fee of $50 (i will create sketches and send them your way before arriving on-location to work).

tattoo commissions

tattoo commissions are single color and can be done in two different styles, doodle or refined. i frequently do multiple sketch iterations for clients to choose from, after which i will polish the chosen sketch and do final linework.

doodle style tattoo commissions are $70 flat rate.

refined style tattoo commissions start at $110 and will increase with level of detail.

logo and brand design

logo and brand design starts with an $50/hour consultation. after that point, i will charge a $100-150/hr rate for all design work. this amount of time will range depending on the project. please tell me what your budget is at time of commission and we can work together to make a project fit.

i typically go by an hourly rate due to the often back and forth nature of branding, however if you need a flat rate quote, please let me know the details of your project and we can figure it out together!

as branding is often particular and personal, you can schedule additional consultations at an $80/hr rate later in the process.
